Wildlife

Seil and the seas around are exceptional for wildlife watching. It is a hot spot for porpoise, dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks. Bird watching highlights include sea eagles, golden eagles and puffins, while otters, seals, and deer can be seen along the shore.

The Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation is an area of outstanding natural beauty; of uninhabited islands whose sea-cliffs plunge into clear nutrient rich oceanic waters. Here we find an astonishing variety of seabirds and a hotspot for sightings of porpoises, dolphins and whales. Along the shoreline you may also see grey seals, common seals and otters while on the rugged slopes above deer and feral goats roam. Eagles, buzzards and peregrine falcons can be seen circling above.

As well as renting out Atlantic Bay Cottage we also run Sealife Adventures which runs boat trips to see the local wild life and the infamous Corryvreckan Whirlpool. We are lucky to have resident golden and sea eagles, otters, seals, porpoises and many seabirds.

Groups of bottlenose dolphins regularly pass in front of the house and are seen from our boat and minke whales are summer visitors.

All visitors to Atlantic Bay Cottage enjoy a 10% discount on our boat trips.
